4th FDSWF 3.21K Buddy Run & Buddy Walk

F.R.I.E.N.D.S. DOWN SYNDROME WEST FLORIDA (FDSWF) together with the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS)is happy to announce that the 4th FDSWF 3.21 BUDDY RUN & BUDDY WALK® will take place at Raymond James Stadium on Saturday, October 26th, from 7am-5pm. More than 3,000 people consisting of families, friends, professionals, and vendors are anticipated to attend this event to raise awareness, acceptance, and advocate for individuals with Down syndrome.
The Buddy Walk was created by the National Down Syndrome Society in 1995 to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month and has grown from 17 walks to well over 250 last year. Over 14.2 million dollars has been raised to benefit local programs and services.
The Goal of the Buddy Walk is to raise funds so that we can establish a place of our own. THE FRIENDS CENTER will provide daycare services, an after-school program, and an adult day care for all special need’s individuals in Hillsborough county. The FRIENDS Center will also give us a base to continue our current year-round programming, develop innovated and new programs and enhance our position in West Florida special needs community.
Buddy Walk Teams – Support your favorite Buddy by building and organizing a Buddy Walk team at your workplace, school, or community. Buddy Walk teams consist of more than five individuals who collect pledges in the name of their Buddy or group. Prizes will be awarded to the top three Buddy Teams who have the most walkers and highest pledges collected. The top three teams will be provided VIP Parking, a Buddy Walk Tent to use during the event, Buddy Butler, and a plaque in appreciation for all their hard work. Registrations and donations received by 6pm, October 25th, 2019 will qualify for prizes.
Volunteers – Help to promote the acceptance of people with Down Syndrome by volunteering at the Buddy Walk. Whether you choose to be on the Buddy Walk Committee or to just volunteer on the day of the walk you will never find a more rewarding experience.
